About the Therapies & Approach

Kinesiology is a non-invasive modality that works with the body’s structural, biochemical and emotional systems using gentle muscle testing. It does not diagnose or treat symptoms in isolation but looks at how stress patterns may affect posture, movement, organ function or emotional health. Unlike physiotherapy, it does not focus on injury rehabilitation or manual joint manipulation. Unlike psychology, it is not talk therapy or counselling.

No. Applied Kinesiology is a specific system developed within chiropractic care. Modern kinesiology has evolved into a broader complementary therapy that may include emotional wellbeing, nervous system regulation, posture, movement, lifestyle support, and mind-body approaches.

Structural kinesiology looks at how the body holds stress through posture, fascia, muscles and the nervous system. It uses muscle testing, gentle structural corrections, cranial and diaphragm work to help the body realign and function better.

How it differs from chiropractic care:

Chiropractic focuses mainly on spinal alignment and uses manual adjustments or manipulations.

Structural kinesiology is gentler and works with the whole body — diaphragm, jaw (TMJ), pelvis, fascia, muscles and nervous system — rather than adjusting only the spine.

Instead of force, it uses muscle testing to find imbalance, then supports the body through subtle corrections, breath, fascial release and neurological techniques.

Both aim to support the body’s natural healing, but kinesiology focuses on how structure, stress and the nervous system interact — not just on joint alignment.

DMuscle testing gently observes how well the nervous system responds to light pressure. It does not test strength, but rather how the brain and body are communicating. This helps identify stress, compensation patterns or imbalances so the session can be guided by the body rather than by guesswork.

Photobiomodulation (PBM), also known as Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), uses specific wavelengths of light to support cellular function, tissue repair, recovery and nervous system regulation. PBM may be provided as a stand-alone service or integrated into other sessions where appropriate.

Mind-body medicine explores how emotions, stress, breath and past experiences affect the body, nervous system and behaviour. It uses techniques such as breathwork, acupoint stimulation, Ba-Gua, fascia release, and neurological balancing. It is not counselling—you do not need to talk through trauma or personal history. The process is body-led rather than story-led.

Yes. The Emotion Code® is a gentle, non-invasive method and is considered safe for babies, children and animals. Because they can’t tell us what they are feeling, we use muscle testing to communicate with the body and identify any trapped emotional stress that may be affecting their wellbeing.

For infants or animals, this is done using surrogate testing — where the practitioner or a parent/caregiver acts as a proxy for the child or animal. This allows us to work respectfully with their energy system without needing them to speak or understand the process.

Can this be done online?
Yes. Emotion Code® sessions can also be carried out online using surrogate muscle testing. With permission, the practitioner connects to the client (or animal) energetically, and the session is conducted via Zoom or distance consultation.

Important to know:

Sessions are calm, brief and guided by the body.

Clients often notice improved relaxation, sleep, mood or behaviour in babies or animals afterward.

The Emotion Code® does not diagnose or replace medical, psychological or veterinary care.

What Happens in a Session

A session begins with a short conversation about your concerns, but most of the process is guided by your body—not by talking. You remain fully clothed and lie comfortably on a treatment table. Muscle testing, structural assessments and neurological reflex points are used to identify where stress or imbalance is held. Corrections may include structural balancing, cranial or diaphragm release, fascia work, acupoints, Ba-Gua or emotional release techniques.

Yes. Before your first appointment (or at the beginning of the session), you’ll be asked to complete a simple intake form. This helps us understand your main concerns, health history and goals.
During the initial consultation, your practitioner will also take a more detailed case history and assessment. This may include checking for physical, emotional or biochemical imbalances and using diagnostic tools such as pulse assessment, muscle testing, tongue observation or other methods appropriate to your symptoms.
This process ensures your session is personalised, safe and tailored to what your body needs.

Wear comfortable clothing and avoid heavy meals, alcohol or excessive caffeine beforehand. You may bring any recent test results if you’d like them considered. No other preparation is required.

Yes. Sessions can be safely adapted during pregnancy and may help with stress, sleep, diaphragm tension, pelvic discomfort or fatigue. Please let your practitioner know if your pregnancy is high-risk so adjustments can be made if needed.

Yes—where appropriate. Nutritional guidance and practitioner-only supplements may be offered as part of integrative and complementary medicine training. They are only recommended when they support healing or nervous system regulation, and never as a replacement for prescribed medication.

Conditions & Who We Work With

Yes. Many clients seek support for long-term pain, fascia tension, plantar fasciitis, fatigue or stress-related symptoms. We look at how posture, fascia, breath mechanics, diaphragm tension and nervous system stress may be contributing. By restoring balance and function, symptoms often begin to ease naturally.

Yes. We support clients experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, shutdown, trauma responses or ADHD-style nervous system patterns. Sessions are gentle and body-led—you don’t have to relive past experiences. We focus on breath, vagus nerve function, primitive reflexes, diaphragm tension and how stress is held in the body.

Yes. The Emotion Code can be used with adults, children and animals. For animals, sessions are usually done by proxy with the owner present. For children, sessions are shorter and adapted to be calm and comfortable.

This varies from person to person. Some feel change in one or two sessions, while others—especially with long-term stress or injuries—benefit from several sessions over time. There are no locked-in treatment plans. Your body guides the process.

Practical Details

Yes. Kinesiology, mind-body medicine and the Emotion Code can be offered online. In online kinesiology, the practitioner may use self-muscle testing or surrogate muscle testing. These sessions are effective for clients who live interstate, overseas or prefer to work from home.

Kinesiology and mind-body medicine are not currently covered by Medicare and only some private health funds may offer rebates. Most clients pay privately.
